Seven gymnasts from Jersey Special Gymnastics Club competed in the British Disability Championships at the USN Bolton Arena on the 6th September 2015.
Alex Buesnel had a great competition staying focused throughout the day and came home as the Senior Men's British Disability Open Champion for the 8th year in succession winning all 6 Gold apparatus medals and Gold overall. Alex would like to thank SportsAid for their financial assistance.
James Lang won 2 Bronze medals in the Senior men's open competition, and team mate Aaron Bonnar took a bronze medal on Rings. Both had a new skill set for these championships and have a bright future in the years ahead.
Matthew Kirkland and Ryan Blandin both competed in the Junior Open Competition and the 2 boys had an extremely close competition with each of them winning 3 gold and 3 silver apparatus medals each with Matthew just taking the Overall Gold with 58.765 to Ryan's 58.666
Cailiegh Quail competed in the Ladies Senior Disabilities Open Competition, she came 2nd overall taking 5 silver medals.
Rui Reis had an outstanding competition. At 39 years old he managed to take the Overall Gold in the Men's Senior Competition B. He was competing against gymnasts much younger than himself but managed to win gold on 4 pieces of apparatus and a silver on rings.
